As I promised yesterday, big changes are on the way for the house blog here at ShowClix. As a part of that, I’ll now be officially expanding out into Twitter! You can now follow my (significantly shorter) ramblings at http://www.twitter.com/ShowClixBlog.
The Twitter page will basically be a companion piece to this blog: in addition to tweeting brief summaries of new blog posts, I’ll also be posting stories that I can’t squeeze into the blog for some reason. Most of the time they’ll be music or entertainment news-related, but occasionally you’ll also find random stuff that just catches my attention for some reason or another.

After spending the last year with a focus on live music, we recently expanded ShowClix to include information on all types of live events!
People can now visit the site to find information on upcoming conferences, conventions, comedy shows, festivals, performing arts, trade shows, networking and community events taking place in cities around the world.

Music and event fans the world-over rejoice! ShowClix has gone global, y’all!
Though the U.S. concert industry has been experiencing a bit of a slump, the rest of the world has actually seen an increase in live music venues and shows. But what was still missing was an on-line database of concerts, venues, (and much more!) where fans from Bolivia to Bangladesh could access their favorite bands and entertainers.
ShowClix has once again happily answered the call and announced its global expansion. The website now has information on over 18,000 different shows in over 2,000 cities around the world! And we’re still growing!

Just because we got a ping pong table for the office doesn’t mean we haven’t been working really hard…
NEW LOOK
Land on any show listing and you’ll find a faster loading, simplified page that’s more focused on the show details and the ways you can track & share the info. Plus, we’ve also updated the header throughout the site. Enough said – check it out for yourself and let us know what you think!
NEW FEATURES
If you live by your online calendar we’ve added the perfect feature for you. Add any show to your iCal, Google, Yahoo or Microsoft Outlook calendar by clicking the icon located next to the date of the show you’re attending.
Wanna add concert listings to your website or blog? We’ve made it easy for you to “Plug In” to ShowClix to hook your readers up with customizable concert info. Click here for more details.
ENHANCED BROWSING
Even though our database of upcoming shows is bigger than ever (we’ve reached 10,000 upcoming shows!), finding your favorite artists’ tour dates has never been easier. While you can still search by city and zip code in our main search box that appears on every page of the site (and at the top of this blog), you can now search by artist name in that box too!
Our new city-specific URL’s make it fast and easy to find out what’s happening near you. For quick reference, bookmark http://yourcity.showclix.com (ie, http://pittsburgh.showclix.com or http://los_angeles.showclix.com) to find concert listings in your city.

Introducing ShowClix v2.0!
Introducing ShowClix v2.0!
Over the last month we’ve been working really hard to create several new features that will help music fans find, track and share live music through ShowClix. And we’re happy to say that we launched version 2.0 of the site this morning!
We redesigned the homepage, added lots of new features and updated the site to include our friends in Canada. If you want more details on the new features, check out the official press release on our site. We’ll also be highlighting a new feature everyday this week right here on the blog.
One of the features we’re most excited about is the new “Tour Tracker” tool. The ShowClix Tour Tracker helps you keep tabs on your favorite musicians as they hit the road this summer. (you have to be registered on the site to check it out, but it’s worth it!)

City-Specific Show Widgets
City-Specific Show WidgetsIf you have a blog or website that is city-specific or draws the majority of it’s traffic from a certain city, then we have a new decorative widget that is perfect for you and your visitors.
We haven’t completed our new (and improved) widget generator just yet and we plan on adding more styles but you can be one of the first to use it. Here is 2 examples for the city of Pittsburgh:

HOW TO PLUG THIS INTO YOUR BLOG OR WEBSITE
Our widget is simply an image that updates everytime it is loaded with the latest shows from our database in the defined city.

TIP: The last 3 variables (pittsburgh/blue/5.jpg) represent the city you want to display / style choice (blue or grey) / and number of shows to display. So if you wanted to display 10 upcoming shows in Los Angeles inside the small grey widget, you would load this image:

Don’t think too hard about it… it’s simple, really. However, if you are having a hard time, shoot us an e-mail or just wait until we have the widget generator ready and it will do all of the work for you.
Oh and if you want extra brownie points from the ShowClix team, then make sure you link your new widget to ShowClix.com or you can even link them directly to the city by doing cityname.showclix.com (IE: pittsburgh.showclix.com or los_angeles.showclix.com).
