The compulsive downward spiral that is Amy Winehouse missed a photocall for Nelson Mandela’s birthday concert yesterday as she was busy visiting her hunk “Blaaaake!” in prison and buying tiny bottles of liquor.
Those tiny bottles must be for her cats because you know she’s got about a fifth of Vodka in her hive!

Is it just me or does anyone else find it mildly offensive that this waste has been given an honor that many more deserving performers would give their left arm for?

This is the most animated I’ve EVER seen Dave Matthews and the results are not pretty. Not pretty, but VERY amusing.
A friend and I were just wondering the other day if Dave still “indulged” now that he’s a little older and a family man. I think this video pretty much answers the question.

Surely an album that will be met with Tha Carter III-like anticipation, Lindsay Lohan’s third studio record, currently titled Spirit in the Dark, will actually feature some big-name producers.
The LP includes tracks by the Neptunes’ Pharrell, Akon, Stargate and Bloodshy & Avant (the pair responsible for Britney Spears’ hit “Toxic”). Maybe it’s payback for Lohan appearing in NERD’s “Everybody Nose” video, but Pharrell will also provide guest vocals on Spirit’s first single “Playground.” The song is due to hit radio in September, which will be followed by the album’s release in November.
Lohan aficionados can follow the progress of little sister Ali’s so-far-nonexistent music career on the TV show Living Lohan.

The axiom has always gone “Bands make all their money on tour,” but this summer is shaping up to be troublesome for many treks, especially by veteran acts.
Ticket sales for destination festivals like Bonnaroo and Coachella dipped, tours by George Michael, Maroon 5 and Janet Jackson are struggling and even Bruce Springsteen’s sales have been soft in some markets.

I really should make a completely seperate category for bizarre celebrity law-suits…
Devo are suing McDonald’s after the hamburger giant used the band’s likeness in a Happy Meal toy without permission. Last April, McDonald’s released a bunch of American Idol-themed toys that had little plastic figures dressed up to represent different musical genres. There was Disco Dave, Rockin’ Riley and, the basis of Devo’s lawsuit, New Wave Nigel.
Anyone who’s seen Devo’s “Whip It” video will automatically recognize those odd red caps, dubbed “energy domes” by the band, as the same hat that adorns New Wave Nigel’s head. Little did McDonald’s know, however, that the “energy dome” is “copyrighted and trademarked,” according to Devo bassist and creator of the “energy dome” Gerald Casale.
According to Casale, “We’re in the midst of suing them… they didn’t ask us anything. Plus, we don’t like McDonald’s, and we don’t like American Idol, so we’re doubly offended.” (Kudos for a great quote!)
Making matter worse, New Wave Nigel also dons an orange jumpsuit and sunglasses strikingly similar to the band’s wardrobe at the time, and the plastic figure even has a song that the band claims sounds Devo-esque.
