Fan Journal: Adventure Hunt Pittsburgh

This past Saturday I participated in one of the most epic contests ever: Adventure Hunt. It’s a modern-day treasure hunt where teams of two complete tasks to unlock clues that lead to actual buried treasure, and the grand prize is a free trip to Panama!

I had no idea what to expect, but I was surprised by how much fun I had doing silly things, like climbing a tree and screaming for my mom, or building a human pyramid, or watching strangers smash eggs over my boyfriend’s head. To be completely honest, I had a suspicion I was going to enjoy that last one!

The race started at Riverview Park, where all Pittsburgh teams got together to complete group challenges, like competing in a three-legged race, doing tricks on a longboard, and holding our own mannequin challenge. All the teams were super friendly, even though we were all competitors.

For us, the challenge came with the tasks that required more concentration and skill. You wouldn’t think skipping a stone four times would be so hard, but in the 90-degree heat, it was nearly impossible. Before we even unlocked the clues to the treasure hunt, we knew that finding the buried treasure first would be unlikely, so we slowed down and just had fun with it. While everyone else went kayaking just long enough to get their Instagram videos, we lazily paddled in circles around the river and soaked up the sun.

The best part about Adventure Hunt is that you don’t need to win to have fun. This “mini Amazing Race” introduces you to tons of new activities right in your own city. This was one of the most fun days I’ve had all spring, and I can’t wait to do it again next year!
