We think our team is pretty amazing at what they do, but sometimes folks don’t get credit outside the office. That’s why we decided to start introducing our awesome ShowClix employees to our readers here on our blog.
Keep checking in with our Meet The Team series to learn more about the ShowClix family!
Nate Good joined ShowClix as our Director of Software Engineering back in 2009, but his journey into the world of hacking began in the 7th grade. Nate says he was “bitten by the programming bug” after he discovered his Texas Instruments graphing calculator had a programming language. Since then, he has completed a research fellowship at NIST, worked for a handful of startups and even done his fair share of freelancing.
Today, he’s our Chief Technology Officer. That means he’s the guy responsible for overseeing our product development and online ticketing system architecture, all of which he’s had a significant hand in building throughout his five years at the company.
As one of the earliest employees of ShowClix, you’ve seen the company grow from a one-room office with a cereal wall to a downtown pad with an office movie theater… Tell us your favorite part about working at ShowClix?
The free cereal wall. The people. Knowing that millions of people have used a product that we built collectively to facilitate having awesome experiences. Probably in that order, too.
ShowClix’s technology is always evolving. What new features are you and your team working on that you are most excited about?
Technology is in our DNA. We have a history of bringing the latest trends in technology to the ticketing space, so we can help solve problems for our partners in unique and refreshing ways. We’re firm believers in the idea that you must be an effective marketer to be an effective event organizer. In order to do that, you have to understand your audience. Many of the products that we’re working on now aim to do just that: to leverage the latest trends in technology to bring our partners and their customers closer, so that everyone can enjoy a successful event.
What’s the one piece of technology you couldn’t live without?
My current addictions include Kindle, Netflix and Macbook Air. All of these are made exponentially better by the world wide web, so let’s go with that.
You were recently promoted to Chief Technology Officer. What’s next for ShowClix now that you’ve assumed this role?
Not much will change on a day-to-day operations level. We’ve got an amazing team of engineers, marketers, support and sales reps that keep ShowClix running like a well-oiled machine. We’ll continue to stick to the plan that has always worked well for us: to delight our partners with exceptional service and imaginative products.
When you aren’t building the ShowClix technology empire, what would we find you doing around Pittsburgh?
I’m unabashedly a homebody nowadays. You’ll typically find me tinkering with some electronic, taking apart some piece of my house, or deep in an ebook with a craft brew usually within arm’s reach. I’m also a newlywed so there isn’t much that I enjoy more than relaxing around the house with my wife.
