2019’s New York Comic Con (NYCC) was amazing in so many ways. Not only did the event consist of an awesome lineup of celebrity guests, panels, exclusive screenings, and incredible artists and exhibitors, but we were joined by four of our Patron Technology sister products on-site, meaning that our team had a huge role in making this iconic event a success!
This was the second year in a row I was lucky enough to be given the chance to travel to New York City to partake in this annual fandom phenomenon on behalf of ShowClix and Patron Technology. I was primarily tasked with capturing photos and videos of the show and of our team’s on-site activities to be shared via social media, so I was able to witness so much of this amazing event up close! I’ll never forget being able to see Danai Gurira’s final NYCC panel as part of the cast of The Walking Dead (her character, Michonne, is leaving the show during the current season). Not to mention getting to see Billy Dee Williams talk about his life and career! And to top it off, getting to see the talent and skill displayed at the NYCC World Championships of Cosplay was mind-blowing.
Throughout the four-day event, the ShowClix Event Operations team put our technology to use, ensuring each attendee was scanned in and out of the main show floor at the Javits Center in a quick and efficient manner. Plus, our scanners were employed in off-site NYCC locales throughout the city at venues including Madison Square Garden, The Manhattan Center, and AnimeFest @ NYCC at Hudson Mercantile. We were also working closely with our teammates from Thuzi (who provided experiential marketing via branded sponsor photo stations, show-branded scan-to-win stations, and exhibitor scan-to-win/lead retrieval activations), Token (who provided RFID cashless wristband solutions), Marcato, and Greencopper (both working hand-in-hand to bring the official NYCC 2019 app to life).
All in all, last weekend was, in the words of Dr. Bruce Banner, “an absolute win!” We got to see five Patron Technology products working hand-in-hand to take the fan experience at NYCC to the next level, ensuring attendees spent less time worrying about getting from place to place and more time enjoying the event we all love so dearly! I’m definitely excited to see what 2020 will bring.
