Our Event Operations experts had yet another full weekend of working on-site with our partners at some amazing events! Read on for their recaps from three of last weekend’s unmissable events, QuakeCon 2018, Otakon 2018, and the 12th Annual Millvale Brew Fest!
QuakeCon – Adry Cantu, Client Success Manager
Last week I was excited at the opportunity to pay an on-site visit to our partners at QuakeCon! QuakeCon is an annual celebration of games and the people who play them, and also hosts the largest BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN Party in North America, and it’s no joke! The LAN Party attendees really go all out with their setups and case modifications. I saw one that had a small fish tank, another made to look like a hamster cage with a motorized hamster running on a wheel, and most had awesome LED lights and custom graphics! Overall, the event organizers had nothing but positive things to say about working with the ShowClix product, which is a huge compliment coming from such tech-savvy partners.
I can’t wait for the chance to experience this event again! I also want to give a shout out to the Bethesda team and their 600 volunteers for making this event a huge success. I appreciated the hospitality and the bag of energy drinks the team gave me for the drive home!
Otakon – Sam Smith, Client Support Representative
I was lucky enough to work on-site at last week’s Otakon, and it was a time to remember! Otakon is an annual convention celebrating the fandom of Asian pop culture, including anime, manga, music, movies, video games, and more. While on-site, I was primarily helping with attendee registration and entrance scanning for the event’s Final Fantasy orchestral concerts (which were amazing by the way). Things at the convention ran very successfully, and our partners at the event were excited about the improvements we helped implement, as compared to past years before they began working with ShowClix.
Millvale Brew Fest – Ally Zrowka, Client Support Representative
Our team had an awesome time at the Millvale Brew Fest this past weekend. What a great day for an outdoor festival! The weather was perfect, just right for sampling cold refreshments. About 30 vendors were set up for the event, each of them with a few different sample options, as well as some free swag! We had a ShowClix team on-site throughout the event to help manage ticket scanning, on-site ticket sales, and wrist banding.
When there were lulls in crowdflow, we had a chance to take turns exploring the event and sampling some of the brews. Some of my favorite samples came from Cobblehouse Brewing and Grist House. Grist House’s mascot, Myron, an absolutely adorable Golden Retriever, definitely didn’t hurt my opinion! And Myron wasn’t the only animal in attendance – one of the vendors, Snakeguy’s Pepper, brought along three snakes! All in all, I really enjoyed my time at the event, and loved working alongside our partners from the Borough of Millvale. I can’t wait for next year!
