The Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh will host the national premiere of “Gridiron Glory: The Best of the Pro Football Hall of Fame” exhibit beginning this fall and tickets are now available to purchase online.
This year marks an exciting time for football in Pittsburgh, the birthplace of professional football 120 years ago, since 1892 when William (Pudge) Heffelfinger was openly paid $500 to play a game. This season is the Steelers 80th anniversary and 2012 also marks the 40th anniversary of the famed “Immaculate Reception” that took place on Dec. 23, 1972 against the Oakland Raiders by running back of the Steelers, Franco Harris.
Harris is Chairman of the Sports Museum at the Heinz History Center, so this exhibit is dear to his heart and he helped make Pittsburgh the first stop for the exhibit from Canton, OH. Yesterday, KDKA Pittsburgh presented a news segment about the exhibit, highlighting some of the articles and artifacts that will be on display. The exhibit opens to the public on October 6, 2012 and will run until January 6th, 2013. Get your tickets now!
