Celebrating its tenth birthday this year, Dekmantel is a music company that operates multiple festivals yearly throughout the world, hosting their main festival each August in Amsterdam.

Last week, I had the honor of spending time with our partners at the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Florida. I was on-site to train new staff as they prepared for their opening of the Dressing Downton exhibition in October, but I was also thrilled to spend an hour or so walking in the museum and seeing some of the amazing artifacts and decorative items accumulated by Otto Lightner. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to explore Pittsburgh’s Mattress Factory Museum for the first time. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, and, boy, did it end up turning into an interesting experience! A few pieces really stood out to me, and I’m glad I got to witness them in person. (more…)

My older brother lives just a few miles from Red Rocks and I’ve been trying to plan a visit around a concert I wanted to see. Luckily for me, a work trip this week allowed me the opportunity to bring along my wife for the weekend and witness the Bonobo and Nick Murphy/Chet Faker concert last Friday, May 12th. (more…)

This past Tuesday I went to a sold out Stage AE to catch the Pittsburgh date of Travis Scott’s heavily anticipated Birds Eye View tour. Hot on the heels of his smash second album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, and his appearance on Drake’s recent “playlist,” More Life, Travis has been on a tear. Having followed him since his Days Before Rodeo mixtape dropped, I was really excited to finally get a chance to witness one of his raucous live shows. (more…)

This past Monday, I went to the South Side’s Rex Theater to see the experimental metal band Sunn O))) (Pronounced Sun). Bearing the torch originally lit by Earth in the early 1990s, Sunn O))) makes long, distorted drones characterized by their footholds in doom and black metal.
