Road Journal: Heroes and Villains, NYC Pride, Anime Expo, and Art Hamptons

Join us as we check out our team’s favorite moments from three spectacular events including Heroes and Villains, Anime Expo, and Art Hamptons!

Heroes and Villains – Jim Rice

Our partners at Fanfest produce ‘Heroes & Villains Fan Fest’ — A convention that gives fans a chance to meet, experience, and learn about their most loved (or hated) tv shows, movies, and game characters.Heroes and Villains

I traveled to the Meadowlands Exposition Center in New Jersey to help oversee fulfillment and registration at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest NY/NJ. We worked with their teams to ensure guests were registered and got in quickly.

While I was there, I spent time with another client of ours, Celebrity Photo Ops, who travels with Fanfest to manage photo ops with celebrities like Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, and Danielle Panabaker. It’s so great to not only see relationships form with our clients, but between their clients as well! This is what ‘Win Together’ is all about.

Anime Expo – Matt Donnelly

We deployed a team of four event operations specialists to support Anime Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Anime Expo is the largest North American anime convention and ShowClix handled the ticketing for 50+ auxiliary events around the expo itself including concerts, comedy shows, film screenings, and even a cosplay performance competition! Anime Expo

The bulk of our work was focused at the ticketing area that was set up outside of the Entertainment Hall in the expo. We had 20+ stations set up there to handle ticket fulfillment/printing, box office sales for general admission and reserved seated events, and general customer service inquiries. In addition to the main ticketing area, we set up satellite will call stations outside of Microsoft Theater and The Novo before select events. The volunteer staff of 80+ people was an absolute pleasure to work with – they grasped the system quickly and were almost completely self-sufficient the entire weekend. I have to give a big shout out to Jeremiah, Coreen, Kelvin, Kevin, and Tony from the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation for compiling such a stellar staff of passionate, smart individuals – they are a big reason that Anime Expo is such a great event to attend.

While we had a great time working at the Ticketing area, we thoroughly enjoyed walking the expo floor as well. The expo was packed with amazing cosplay and fun-loving attendees. Every time I am on-site at a large convention like Anime Expo, I am amazed by the passion that brings so many people from so many backgrounds together. It’s the most rewarding part of my job, for sure!

Art Hamptons – Brandon Lehman

To start my 3 event streak across the Northeast, I ventured to Bridgehampton, NY for Art Hamptons. This art fair is presented by galleries from around the world exhibiting modern and contemporary art in a variety of media including painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed-media. Art Hamptons is owned by Urban Expositions, who also produces Art Houston, Art Palm Springs, and SOFA Chicago. I was particularly impressed with the amount of activities within the event, including book talks, signings, private tours, parties, and more. Art Hamptons

The team at Art Hamptons scanned tickets and used our box office for walk-up sales. They also used our thermal printers to print tickets on-demand for those guests. Between the VIP badges that Art Hamptons printed and the tickets we printed on-site, every guest had a memento from this awesome 4-day art fair.
