This week, we gathered with software engineers in our downtown Pittsburgh office for an evening of tech talk, networking, and local brews. An estimated 60 people attended our Engibeering event — get it? — ranging from eager-to-learn students to code fanatics.
Nate Good, our Director of Software Engineering, remarked, “Pittsburgh has a great tech community. It’s easy to get caught up in all the hubbub of the Silicon Valley after hearing about billion dollar acquisitions and even bigger IPOs – however, events like Engibeering remind us that the we have a solid tech community right in our back yard, and it’s made up of really bright and talented people.”
In addition to good beers and friendly tech experts, the evening included a series “Lightning Talks” with tiny bytes of information about new projects in Pittsburgh, at ShowClix, and beyond. Check out some photos of the event after the jump!
Playing an intense game of ping pong in our lobby area. Which khakis will win?
Salty snacks and our own keg from East End Brewery. Delicious!
Nicholas McClay, the organizer of Node.js Pittsburgh, gave an intro to the node.js language and some of more popular tools in the node.js ecosystem.
Indulging in yummy pizza from Pizza Parma.
Why not transfer to the next slide via scanning a bottle of rum? It’s just how we do things.
Attendees listening intently, because we’re into this sort of stuff.
Be sure you don’t miss out on our next Engibeering event!
