Break out your platform sandals and bell-bottom jeans, and get ready to boogie at the hottest party in Pittsburgh! On Friday, June 16, the Mattress Factory’s 20th annual Urban Garden Party is repping a 1977 theme in celebration of the year the museum was founded.
The Mattress Factory is a contemporary art museum and experimental lab that features site-specific installations created by artists from around the world. Since its founding, the museum has been a catalyst for community revitalization in Pittsburgh’s North Side, and now they’re celebrating forty years of revolutionary art that consistently pushes the boundaries of both artist and viewer.
The 2017 Urban Garden Party will feature highlights from the year 1977, like the first apple computer, Star Wars, Studio 54, and Saturday Night Fever. Not only is it guaranteed to be a multi-sensory experience, the Urban Garden Party will once again transcend the boundaries of age and economics to bring together a colorful crowd and set the fundraiser apart from any other.
