Pensacola, it’s that time of the year again: Pensacon is taking over the city to turn it into the ultimate fan experience from February 22-24! Since its birth in 2013, Pensacon has become the premiere comic book and pop culture convention for Pensacola and the Gulf Coast, and this year they’re gearing up for another amazing convention. Featuring photo-ops, tons of panels, and dozens of special guests representing countless fandoms, Pensacon strives to create a welcoming environment for fans of all genres.
What makes Pensacon truly unique is the spirit of community exuded by the entire city of Pensacola. The primary convention venue is the Pensacola Bay Center, but the festivities stretch across many other venues, including the Pensacola Grand Hotel, the Saenger Theatre, the Rex Theatre, and the Pensacola Little Theatre, among others. Fans of all ages and skill levels can get together to participate in this year’s cosplay contest. With five different competitor levels, you’ll meet your match when you go head-to-head with other talented contestants. From Masters who have won at least three awards in other costume contests, to Novices who love competing but have yet to place, to Exhibitors who want to show off their masterpieces outside of the competition, this year’s cosplay is sure to wow you. Sync Your Lips to Your Favorite Songs
It’s time to grab your air guitars and become the superstar you were always meant to be. At this year’s Lip Sync Contest, attendees will get the chance to master their favorite songs and dazzle the audience with their false singing abilities. With two preliminary rounds and a final round on the last day of the convention, this contest is not for the faint of heart. Embrace Your Inner Movie Buff
Featuring 38 films from all over the U.S., Australia, Canada, and Taiwan, Pensacon’s Short Film Festival represents the best in science fiction, animation, horror, and more. You’ll be privy to screenings of titles including A Failure of Invisibility, Rebooted, Dark Spector II, and many more! Awards will include Best in Show, Jury Selection, Audience Choice Awards, and individual awards for the best of each genre.
