It’s that time of year again, Chattanooga: Riverbend is back! The Riverbend Festival, named by locals after the bend in the Tennessee River, is an annual celebration that spans across four nights this year to bring festival goers the best of today’s music and entertainment. With four stages set along the backdrop of the Tennessee River and 30 musical performances spanning from pop to country to rap, this year’s Riverbend Festival is the perfect place to kick off the summer!
The Riverbend Festival is run by Friends of the Festival, a nonprofit organization that produces events with the aim to unite and enrich the Chattanooga community. They work to create civic publicity, inspire artistic pleasure, attract more people to activities downtown, and much more. While Riverbend is their premier event, they run a series of other events like Riverfront Nights, a free summer music series, and more, all with the mission to expose more people to the roaring nightlife the community has to offer.
Riverbend’s headlining artists this year are Weezer, Lionel Richie, Keith Urban, and Macklemore. They’ll finish each night on the Coca-Cola Stage, a full concert stage converted from a barge that floats just off-shore, facing amphitheater seats that are built into a hillside on the water’s edge. Leading up to these performances, the Bud Light Stage, TVFCU Stage, and Chevy Stage will host other prominent acts like Old Crow Medicine Show, Jimmie Allen, LANCO, The War & Treaty, Larkin Poe, Mitch Rossell, and many more. Plus, new this year is the Jack Daniel’s Whiskey River Lounge, where attendees can sit back and relax while enjoying a whiskey and cigar. The Lookout Winery Club, too, will feature hand-crafted local wines. Fans can enjoy also Deep Eddy signature cocktails and take a ride on the Elephant Insurance Ferris wheel, which has most notably been seen dominating the Bonnaroo skyline.
