Event Spotlight: Upstream Music Fest + Summit

Upstream Music Fest + Summit is the place to be June 1-3! Centered in Seattle’s historic arts and entertainment district of Pioneer Square, Upstream Music Fest + Summit features over 200 artists (from internationally acclaimed performers to Northeastern rising stars), 15+ venues, and two mains stages, so attendees can tailor their schedule for the perfect weekend of music. Last year’s festival attracted over 30,000 attendees, and this year, with food from the region’s top chefs, a beer garden, and a schedule shift from Thursday-Saturday to Friday-Sunday, Upstream will welcome even more excited music-lovers!

Personalize Your Festival-Going Experience at the Music Fest

Created last year by Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Paul Allen, the Upstream Music Fest + Summit is a three-day festival designed to both showcase diverse musical talent and connect fans and musicians. Thanks to the intimacy of Seattle’s oldest neighborhood, Pioneer Square, Upstream offers a truly unique experience. You could meet your favorite local artist passing through Occidental Park, or you could find yourself grabbing a drink next to a performer you saw on stage just hours before. The connections, friends, and memories available at this festival are unlike any other!

Each day, Upstream will feature headliners on its TWO main stages, the Amazon Music Main Stage and KEXP Stage. Artists including Miguel, The Flaming Lips, Cut Copy, Little Dragon, Hot Snakes, and more will bring the house down as they entertain fans. Upstream has tapped music industry experts, like Consequence of Sound, Sub Pop Records, and Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic to curate stages of their favorite artists. Check out the full performance lineup  and curator list, and get started planning your weekend! And don’t forget to schedule in all the food, drinks, and activities Upstream has to offer!

Talk to the Pros at the Summit

The Upstream Summit, presented by Amazon Web Services, is a one-day conference focused on navigating the music industry for artists and professionals alike. Programmed in partnership with the Recording Academy Pacific Northwest Chapter, the Summit takes place in venues across Pioneer Square on June 1. You’ll have the opportunity to attend panels hosted by music professionals who all have significant experience navigating the industry, like ODESZA, Krist Novoselic, Sango, Fred Coury, and more. They’ll discuss the most pressing opportunities and challenges facing professionals today, and will offer expertise on how to navigate the industry. “Unique to the region is that Upstream highlights the very best of Seattle’s oldest neighborhood, Pioneer Square. Our format encourages attendees to bounce from intimate showcases to big stages in the city’s original arts and entertainment district. Pioneer Square has a rich and storied history as the epicenter of the sound and culture of the Northwest from the Jazz Age to the grunge era. We embrace this musical history by working with the neighborhood to put on the festival and have attendees discover artists playing at many of the clubs and buildings that have stood for almost 200 years.” – Rebecca Camarda, Director, Vulcan Arts + Entertainment
