As an increasingly sought-after destination for films, conventions, musicians, summits, artists and more, our beloved city of Pittsburgh welcomes One Young World to host their 2012 Summit this weekend. As a growing leader in technology, health care, innovation, education, entrepreneurship and careers, Pittsburgh is the perfect environment for this event. Delegates from over 180 countries have ventured into the city so that “young delegates, backed by the One Young World Counsellors, [will] debate and formulate solutions for the pressing issues the world faces.”
Featuring some of the most influential people of our time, One Young World’s 2012 Summit attendees have been welcomed to Pittsburgh with open arms. (See photos and tweets from young delegates and their first impression of the city here via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette blog.) We have noticed downtown bustling with welcoming flags, networking events and celebrations to take in this exciting opportunity.
We’re honored that ShowClix President Lynsie Campbell will be among the speakers this Saturday during the break-out sessions, in order to discuss “Funding the Future:”
“At a time when many developed economies are facing a weak economic outlook, the importance of nurturing entrepreneurial ventures is greater than ever. High-growth entrepreneurial companies will play a particularly important role in this rebalancing of the economy. Their rapid rate of expansion means that they have greater potential to create jobs at a time when many G20 countries are facing stubbornly high rates of unemployment.”
The break-out sessions will take place at University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning for the delegates, which is a perfect location since the Cathedral of Learning is a Pittsburgh landmark and tallest educational building in the Western hemisphere!
We want to wish all of those who are visiting the Steel City this weekend a very warm welcome! We are honored to be located in such a forward-moving city, and be a part of its growth. Welcome to Pittsburgh One Young World!
