Road Journal: Anime Expo and Bristol Renaissance Faire

Our team lives for live events! Last week, our Event Operations experts traveled to Anime Expo and Bristol Renaissance Faire to support our partners on-site, and they left with some amazing memories. Read on for a recap of our favorite moments!

Anime Expo – Amy Polacsek, Client Success Manager

Anime Expo 2018I had the chance to work on-site at this year’s Anime Expo, and what an experience it was! The event partnered with ShowClix for many of the special events occurring throughout the expo, including the highly anticipated Anisong World Matsuri concerts. The attendees all looked great! There was a lot of effort put into their cosplays, and you could really see it in the details. Even through the hot weather outside, these cosplayers were all super committed! There were a lot of great food vendors on-site as well: tasty açai bowls, burger trucks, taco trucks, and waffle trucks.

Our partners from Anime Expo were lots of fun to work with! There were a handful of people we worked closely with on-site, and it made the experience all the better. They had a strong and smart staff, who always arrived early for shifts and were eager to help the attendees. Overall it was a great experience, and I’d jump at the chance to return!

Bristol Renaissance Faire – Taylor Gustafson, Client Success Manager

Bristol Renaissance FaireI got to experience yet another incredible opening weekend of renaissance fun at Bristol Renaissance Faire! I spent most of my time on-site helping with scanner training, management, and deployment. The event staff loved that they could look up orders on the scanners. Before working with ShowClix, if a customer was unable to present their tickets at the gate, they would have to be directed back to the will call booth to have the tickets reprinted. They also loved that the scanners would scan on phones so easily!

In my down time, I was able to witness some of the amazing entertainment the faire offers. Washing Well Wenches put on a hilarious comedy show, and the Mud Show was pretty entertaining as well! I also caught a few minutes of the great puppet shows the faire presents for kids, and, possibly the most exciting part, I SAW THE QUEEN! I’d also like to shout out the Fudge Shoppe for the best chocolate covered Oreo ever. All in all, I can’t wait for my next Renaissance Entertainment experience!
