Road Journal: Awesome Con 2019

Last weekend I was excited to return to Washington, D.C. to work on-site with our LeftField Media partners at Awesome Con! This is always a really fun event to be a part of, as it brings devotees of so many different fandoms together.

This year, our on-site team was present to oversee hardware and software support for registration, show merchandise, and autograph sales. I was responsible for helping with everything from walk-up badge sales and will call pickup, to on-site credit card sales of merch and autographs show-wide. We’ve been working with Awesome Con and LeftField Media for quite some time, and we have a deep understanding of their event day needs, so everything went as smoothly as expected at this year’s show.

I love being on-site for this event. My favorite part of Awesome Con is the section of the show called Future Con, which focuses on science and technology. Exhibitors include NASA, the CIA, and the Smithsonian. Attendees of all ages were engaged with glimpses into the latest scientific technology. Not to mention, the cosplay I saw this year was fantastic! Especially on Saturday, the costumes and creativity were phenomenal.

At the end of the day, a great show boils down to a great team pulling the strings. The LeftField Media staff are always great to work with, along with the devoted Awesome Con staff and volunteers. If you missed out on the fun this year, be sure to add Awesome Con 2020 to your calendar!
