Road Journal: Clearwater Festival and Urban Garden Party

With summer already underway, our Event Ops team is prepared for a full season of working alongside our partners on-site! Last weekend, we had the pleasure of working with our friends from the Clearwater Festival and the Mattress Factory‘s annual Urban Garden Party. Read on for some of our favorite moments!

Clearwater Festival – Taylor Gustafson, Client Success Manager

I had an amazing time working at this past weekend’s Clearwater Festival! Initially born out of Pete Seeger’s desire to clean up the Hudson River over forty years ago, Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival, as it is formally known, celebrates music and environmental preservation all in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. The event takes place on the shores of the Hudson river, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful!

I was on-site with Jason Mastrine, our Head of Partnerships, who has been working for the event for 10 years, so everyone there knew him. Serving as the on-site ticketing supervisor, much of my time was spent consulting on box office best practices, managing hardware for both box office and scanning, and offering reporting help.

Everyone was so welcoming! In fact, the festival director found out I had never before eaten crepes, and bought me my first one ever. Not to mention, I was able to see Jeff Tweedy of Wilco on stage! Needless to say, I am already excitedly waiting for my next trip to the Clearwater Festival!

Urban Garden Party – Adry Cantu, Client Success Manager

This year’s Urban Garden Party was truly a night to remember! As a newer addition to the ShowClix team, it was exciting to be able to dive right in and witness one of our partner’s most exciting events in person.

The Urban Garden Party is the Mattress Factory museum’s signature fundraiser that brings together everyone from CFOs and entrepreneurs, to artists, hipsters, musicians, and more. The “Galactic Get Down” theme brought out all types of attendee costumes, including Avatar groups, Star Trek costumes, and Mad Max-esc outfits. Add to that incredible atmosphere the beautiful Pittsburgh weather, and we had the makings of a perfect evening event! Everyone danced the night away in a fog-filled, laser illuminated, futuristic themed courtyard party, all while raising money for the museum.
