Road Journal: LEGO KidsFest, Emerald City Comic Con, and Walker Stalker Nashville

Last week was a busy one for our Event Ops team with ShowClix members attending some massive events including Walker Stalker Con, LEGO KidsFest Harrisburg, and Emerald City Comic Con!

Check out some of the highlights and our favorite moments in this next edition of the ShowClix Road Journal!

LEGO KidsFest Harrisburg – Brandon Lehman

LEGO KidsFest stopped in Harrisburg, PA this past weekend. I made the short trip to our state capitol to help run admissions and the Will Call & Customer Service booth. Since 2009, LEGO KidsFest has made over 30 tour stops across 24+ cities in North America.LEGO KidsFest

Though it was LEGO’s first time in Harrisburg, thousands of families traveled from as far as Delaware and New York to attend the interactive event. The fest features hands-on group builds, workshops led by LEGO Master Builders, life size models, and even a LEGO marketplace. My personal favorite models were the Jurassic World raptors.

If you’re a LEGO fan, be sure to check out legokidsfest.com for more info. Upcoming tour stops include Missouri, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Texas and Ohio.

Emerald City Comic Con – Katie Smith

Our lead engineer, Jarrett and I flew to Seattle last weekend for Emerald City Comicon 2016. ECCC is the premier comic book and pop culture convention in the Northwest and organized by our wonderful partner, ReedPOP. This is the same ReedPOP that is responsible for putting on New York Comic Con, PAX Prime, Star Wars Celebration and many more.Emerald City Comic Con

Emerald City Comicon featured exclusive screenings, Artist Alley and a ton of panels and photo ops with guests like Jon Bernthal (Daredevil), Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings), and Aaron Kuder (Action Comics). In our 3 years of working with the event, it was the biggest yet!

We partnered with ReedPOP to host all of the online ticket sales for Emerald City Comicon and their partner event, Image Expo. I’d like to send a special shout out to Allison, the event’s expert Registration Manager, who kept everything running smoothly.

Walker Stalker Con – Matt Donnelly

I was lucky enough to be on-site for Walker Stalker Con in Nashville this past weekend; it was a killer event! Nashville is home turf for the folks at Fan Fest and 2016 marked their 3rd anniversary of hosting Walker Stalker Con in their own backyard. For those of you not familiar with the event, Walker Stalker Con brings fans of The Walking Dead together with the stars of the show, zombie-centric vendors, and various zombie-related activities.Walker Stalker Nashville

First, I had an awesome time meeting all of the staff and volunteers. Walker Stalker Con has an insanely loyal group of volunteers that travel across the country to help out at the events. It was so cool to learn about where everyone was from, how they got started with Walker Stalker Con, and how obsessed they are with the show!

My presence in Nashville was to ensure that our ticketing platform was functioning properly for walk up sales, on-site redemption of badges/wristbands, and merchandise sales. Walker Stalker Con is unique in the fact that we also ticket The Walking Dead Experience, which is a 30-minute interactive zombie experience set up within the convention space. I would urge anyone who attends a Walker Stalker Con to go through The Walking Dead Experience; it’s unlike anything I’ve ever done in my life!
Overall, the event was a huge success. The staff and attendees were equally excited to be there, making the entire weekend a blast. Check out the full list of cities that will be invaded by walkers here: http://walkerstalkercon.com/
