Road Journal: Magical Winter Lights

This month, I was lucky enough to spend two weeks with the Magical Winter Lights (MWL) team at both their Houston (La Marque) and Dallas (Grand Prairie) locations. On top of a magical light show, the events include added features like an interactive dinosaur exhibit, live acrobatic performances, games, carnival rides, and other live entertainment. The awe-inspiring light displays were broken into themes across the event, which varied by location.

Road Journal: Magical Winter LightsHouston is the main location for the MWL team, and has been open for three seasons now. I was absolutely amazed at what the team was able to accomplish in turning a parking lot into a true magical winter wonderland. On top of multiple lanterns, the Houston location provided various carnival rides, surprise appearances from the “Ice Sisters,” and even the big man himself – Santa Claus! Personally, my favorite area was the interactive dinosaur exhibit, which included rides, photo ops, and multiple lanterns that were all dinosaur themed! The ShowClix team was able to work with the MWL team to provide seamless entry to guests who either purchased online or in person at the event. I loved that the MWL team used our one receipt per order feature, allowing speedy entry, as well as less paper wasted!

Road Journal: Magical Winter LightsWhen I traveled to the Dallas-Fort Worth event, I was expecting a repeat of the same features, but that was not the case! The DFW location, taking place at the stunning Lone Star Park, features multiple different lanterns, a different acrobatic performance, and separate games. My favorite part about the DFW location was the framed light photo ops. Guests could pretend to be in different scenarios (like riding a bike) in a frame consisting of only Christmas lights! The opening night of MWL in Dallas became that much more special when our box office staff got to witness a marriage proposal! I also enjoyed the positive feedback from the box office staff on how easy our software was to use. The managers especially enjoyed our end-of-day box office report, which they mentioned has become much quicker and easier since partnering with ShowClix.

Road Journal: Magical Winter LightsIf you live in the Houston or DFW areas, I highly suggest checking out this magical event. It’s truly entertaining for all ages and unlike anything you have ever seen. I’m so glad the MWL team chose ShowClix as their event technology partner, and I hope I get to go back next year!
