Road Journal PyroFest, Lego Kidsfest, Walker Stalker, and Awesome Con

What a dazzling last few weeks! Our team had a blast walking with dinosaurs, running from zombies, partying with celebrities, and then sitting back to watch a gorgeous display of pyrotechnics! For more event day fun and awesome pictures of the events, check out our teams’ recaps below!

PyroFest – Aaron Crothers

PyroFest 2016 was a blast! Pun most definitely intended. The PyroFest team has put on another stellar event and it’s been great to watch this grow from one day of some music and fireworks to two days with camping and tons of great bands and pyro displays. PyroFestI always tell people, it’s fireworks, but it’s bigger and better than any fireworks display you have ever seen. The ShowClix team managed three gates and a box office, and put thousands of tickets and thousands of walk up sales through the doors with ease. Always a great event. We love our local clients and love getting the chance to work so closely with them.

Lego KidsFest Kentucky – Matt Donnelly

I joined the Buzz Engine crew in Louisville, KY for the fourth stop on the 2016 LEGO KidsFest tour. I oversaw the box office and scanning operations for all five sessions through the weekend. The staff was very friendly and repeatedly mentioned how easy our scanners are to use (thanks!). Lego KidsFestThe LEGO KidsFest events are always full of awesome activities and the Louisville stop was no exception. In addition to mainstays like the model museum, race ramps and battle zone, attendees were treated to special zones dedicated to Jurassic Park, Star Wars and Disney. I saw nothing but smiling faces (and bags from the LEGO Store) exiting the event all weekend, so it’s safe to say that it was a huge success. Big shout out to Amanda, Amber and the rest of the Buzz Engine team for producing such a great event!

The tour picks back up in October and visits Wisconsin, Texas, and Ohio before the end of the year. Make sure you check it out!

Walker Stalker Chicago – Amy Kline

I had the pleasure of being at Walker Stalker Chicago, a convention completely dedicated to everything The Walking Dead. The cast of The Walking Dead and many more shows and movies came out for Walker Stalker all year long in different cities.walker stalker I had the best time!  I was there to meet with Celeb Photo Ops, who runs a tight ship, and gets hundred of people in for photos with their favorite celebrities every hour. I’d be hard pressed to find a more efficiently run system and everyone that walked away with a photo with their favorite star was smiling ear to ear!

Also at Walker Stalker is The Walking Dead Experience, an immersive zombie experience (and the stuff my nightmares are made of!) The audiences went absolutely nuts for this and they had sold out times all day long. My favorite celebs of the weekend (Joey Fatone, Nick Carter and AJ Mclean) got their time with the zombies and made it out alive (Phew!)

I loved meeting the Walker Stalker, Celeb Photo, and Walking Dead staff. Make sure to visit walkerstalkercon.com for more locations.

Awesome Con – Katie Smith

Last weekend, thousands of pop culture fans gathered in Washington DC for Awesome Con. The event featured a whole host of celebrity guests including Peter Capaldi, Ron Perlman and Kevin Smith,  awesome conon-hand for panels, autographing and photo ops throughout the weekend. In addition, the extensive expo floor kept fans engaged for hours. One of my favorite parts of the event was the “Science Fair”, which included booths and programming from experts such as Nasa and the Smithsonian, and even Bill Nye the Science Guy!

This was our first year partnering with Awesome Con, so it was especially fun to be on-site and experience this con for the first time. Special thanks to Ben, Kelly, and everyone at Left Field Media, along with all of the amazing event volunteers!
