Sold-Out Hunger Games Premiere Raises Charity Dollars

As one of the most popular Hunger Games fan sites out there, TheHob.org teamed up with ShowClix to ticket their one-of-a-kind midnight movie premiere last week. Their goal for the event was to gather together as fans of the book and movie series while giving back to a good cause.

The charity that The Hob has partnered with is WhyHunger, an organization that strives to put an end to poverty and hunger. Ticket sales for The Hob’s event benefited WhyHunger and in addition they were able to raise $1,000 for the charity that night!

ShowClix was the supreme ticketing choice for The Hob’s event, and we spoke to Gabby Vittoria of TheHob.org to learn more about her experience.

“The main driving force behind this was that it’s such a nice thing that a group of fans can get together and be giving back at the same time,” said Vittoria. “Doing good while enjoying yourself and being a fan, we think that is the best part.”

The Hob is an extensive fan site for lovers of The Hunger Games books and movie (and upcoming movies) that evolved from a group of friends who would share book recommendations.

“We were talking so much about The Hunger Games, one of the other girls suggested starting a blog because we couldn’t stop talking about it, I’m sure a lot of other people feel the same way. So we started a blog and it’s grown beyond our imagination! It’s fun to share our excitement with other fans.”

Vittoria began the hunt for a ticketing company to help ease the chaos for the highly anticipated midnight movie premiere on March 23rd. “We did some research and we were comparing ticketing sites. ShowClix fees were the lowest, user-friendly, everything from customizing the page so that it looks like an extension of our own site… We just loved all of those features to really make it our own,” she said.

The night of the event, The Hob team found the ShowClix mobile ticket scanning app to be incredibly easy to use. “It’s such an easy app, because even if you can’t scan, you can type in a person’s last name and boom, it comes up, it’s right there. It’s really just so simple,” Vittoria explained.

As a ticket seller who was benefiting a nonprofit, Vittoria would recommend ShowClix. “Mainly, the customer service would be the top reason why I would tell everybody to use ShowClix.”

The Hob continues to work with WhyHunger, and is currently auctioning off a Hunger Games banner signed by over 30 people involved with the film! Writer of the series Suzanne Collins, director Gary Ross, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland and more have put their mark on the banner.
