Are you on Google+? Should you be?
According to data from SEO platform BrightEdge, 61% of top brands have already created Google+ Pages within the first week of the feature’s launch. With New Year’s Eve just over a month away, Highland Entertainment‘s preparations are already in motion for the annual New Year’s event in Dallas, Lights All Night.
Even though the event is still weeks away, Lights All Night has gathered upwards of 18,000 followers on Facebook and Twitter. To see the widespread influence of their social media presence, just take a look at their official Facebook Page or the Twitter hashtag #lightsallnight… Hundreds of posts and tags from fans, with dozens of new followers and comments rolling in every day.
How do you attract the attention of so many people at once? (And maybe more importantly, how do you keep their attention?)
Recently we spoke to Highland’s CEO and Talent Buyer, Scott Osburn, about his ongoing gameplan to promote the biggest Lights All Night yet.
Highland Entertainment’s Scott Osburn notes that the ticket sales are “way ahead of schedule.” In fact, ticket sales for the Dallas festival are as much as 40% ahead of the curve, compared to other similar festivals booked by Highland.
In the early counts for Lights All Night, he has seen a growing number of fans opt for [mobile tickets]. “I personally like mobile tickets, especially from an event promoter’s standpoint,” Osburn said. “At this point in the ticket sales, 20% of our ticket buyers have opted to use mobile ticketing.”
Through a series of direct social media campaigns, the team has amassed a staggering 15,000 [now 18,000 and counting!] followers on social networks like Facebook and Twitter, along with a nationwide team of 100 college ambassadors who promote the event through flyers, posts, and pre-parties, in exchange for internship credit hours.
Check out the rest of our conversation with Scott in our Lights All Night case study [PDF].

Last week, three members of the ShowClix team attended this year’s Billboard Touring Conference and Awards conference.
The event kicked off with opening remarks from Billboard Editorial Director Bill Werde, followed by remarks from ShowClix’s Director of Sales, Pat Lucas. Lucas’ remarks introduced a conversation about innovation in ticketing and the influence of social media, which was covered at length by the first panel of the conference, “How Exactly Will Social Sell Tickets?”

Benefit Braddock was just announced and we couldn’t be more excited!
The Levi’s Benefit Braddock concert series, which features performances from a virtual dean’s list of the 2011 indie rock scene, lasts three days in nearby Braddock, PA. The event is more than just a series of shows, however… Proceeds from ticket sales will support the rebuilding efforts in Braddock, tripled by a contribution from Levi’s!
The series kicks off with a Thursday night double-header from indie troubadour Andrew Bird and opener Kurt Vile, whose hazy 2011 Matador release Smoke Ring for My Halo has already topped several album-of-the-year lists.
Friday’s set features Atlas Sound, the subdued dream-pop side project from Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox. The band will open for long-time partisans of the psychedelic indie rock sound, Built to Spill.
Finally on Saturday, the series will really start to take off with back-to-back, riotous sets from Titus Andronicus and The Hold Steady.
Tickets are on sale now at ShowClix.com, but get them quickly because they won’t last long!

We weren’t really sure what to expect when we arrived at Pier 36 for Billboard.com’s Summer Blowout event.
Remember, this was not your father’s ticketing… ShowClix had the dubious honor of hosting the first-ever entirely mobile-ticketed event. (Check out yesterday’s blog post for a video with more information.)
Located just north of Manhattan Bridge in New York’s Lower East Side, Pier 36 was the perfect venue to host what many of the city’s most prolific media bloggers had dubbed the event of the summer.
The Blowout was a mix of equal parts concert and summer party with just a dash of neon flash mob, hosted by Billboard Top 100 artist LMFAO. Add to that an entourage including renowned hip-hop producer Swizz Beatz, among a guest list of rising musicians and other VIPs, and you’ll see why we were so thrilled to be at the center of the action.
Even media giant TMZ showed up to spread the gospel (and gossip) about the event.
Check out some backstage photos from the Blowout, snapped by our own Daniel Stainer.

What do you get when you connect some of the world’s most influential country music singers, songwriters and industry movers & shakers with the hottest event ticketing company? A great time, of course!
That’s what happened on June 6 and 7 when the team at ShowClix descended on Nashville for the 2nd Annual Billboard Country Music Summit.
While there as a key sponsor, ShowClix proudly showed off its fan club ticketing and merchandising system, which includes innovative product bundling capabilities that allow artists to include or upsell products such as t-shirts, CDs, digital downloads, and other merchandise to ticket buyers during checkout.
Joshua Dziabiak (CEO of ShowClix) and Melinda Colaizzi (Business Development Manager) with Kenny Chesney
“We received some tremendous industry feedback about our fan club ticketing and merchandising system,” noted ShowClix CEO Josh Dziabiak. “Clearly, there’s a strong need for the type of integrated functionality we’re now able to provide.”
But it wasn’t all business in Music City. Between superstar Q&A sessions and other industry presentations, Dziabiak, along with Business Development Manager Melinda Colaizzi and Director of Sales Pat Lucas, had a chance to spend some quality time hanging out with country music megastars Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean. Collectively, they have over 20 award-winning albums to their credit.

All in all, the Billboard Country Music Summit 2011 conference was a big success for ShowClix and a ton of fun!
In early November, ShowClix heads to NYC as the presenting sponsor of the7th Annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards.
